Upstate New York jam stalwarts moe. are currently on hiatus while bassist Rob Derhak valiantly battles oropharyngeal cancer. moe. recently posted an update on Rob’s health just weeks after Derhak shared one of his own.

The good news is that the bassist finished chemo and radiation on Friday. Now, Rob, his family, friends, band mates and fans await word on his prognosis. Here’s the full text of the note shared by moe. on Friday, “Rob finished chemo and radiation today! Words can’t describe how amazed and overjoyed we are with the amount of love you have all sent our way. Keep Rob in your thoughts through the coming weeks while we wait on the prognosis.” The post was accompanied by an image of Derhak ringing the “Good Luck Bell” at the location where he was treated.

Rob was diagnosed with cancer over the summer, which led moe. to begin an indefinite hiatus on August 1. Band members have played sporadic gigs with various projects since. Next up is a pair of Wally Waldman Project performances in Chicago on November 8 and Menasha, Wisconsin on November 9 featuring moe.’s Chuck Garvey and Vinne Amico. In December, both Amico and Al Schnier will play as part of a pair of “Everyone Loves Terrapin” concerts at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, California.
