MLB Giants Plan Jerry Garcia Tribute & Phillies & Cardinals To Host Grateful Dead Nights

A trio of Major League Baseball teams will honor Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead later this summer. Garcia’s local team the San Francisco Giants will honor the guitarist with a Jerry Garcia Tribute Night and the Philadelphia Phillies and St. Louis Cardinals will hold Grateful Dead Nights.
The Phillies will honor the legendary band on August 2 when they host the visiting Giants at Citizens Bank Park. The first 1,500 people who buy promotional tickets will receive a voucher for an exclusive Phillies Grateful Dead t-shirt giveaway. The Dead’s affiliated charitable organization the Rex Foundation will receive $4 for every ticket sold. Full details and ticket links can be found here.

The Giants will host a Jerry Garcia Tribute Night on August 18 when they take on the New York Mets.The night at AT&T Park will have pre-game and in-game music featuring Garcia’s music. Promotional tickets come with a limited-edition Jerry Garcia Giants baseball cap. The Cardinals are hosting a Rex Foundation benefit Grateful Dead Night when they play the Cincinati Reds on September 26. Fans at Busch Stadium will hear live music by loval Dead cover band Jake’s Leg. Promo tickets to the Cardinals game come with a Grateful Dead Cardinals T-shit. Earlier this month the Chicago White Sox held a Grateful Dead Tribute Night and in September the Boston Red Sox will host a tribute night at Fenway Park.
