Luther Dickinson Solo Album Due Next Month

North Mississippi Allstars front man Luther Dickinson will release a new solo album, Rock ‘n Roll Blues, on March 18 via New West Records. The LP marks Luther’s first solo effort since 2012’s Hambone’s Meditation.

Dickinson has pulled together songs he’s written over the past few decades that date all the way back to his youth. “These songs didn’t fit onto my past records,” Luther said in a statement announcing the album, “but they all fit together. When I realized they told the story of a guy growing into a life in music, it really did make sense as a song cycle and as a solo record.”

Luther has shared a taste of what we can expect from Rock ‘n Roll Blues and it’s very different from his previous efforts. “Vandalize” has a punk edge to it that hearkens back to the days during his grade school years when Black Flag was Dickinson’s favorite band. Take a listen:
