The String Cheese Incident recently shared details of their newly established personal recording studio SCI Sound Lab. After the band released an initial free EP and single, keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth has gotten in the action with an SCI Lab-produced new solo single “Tumbling” that features lyrics about attending at Grateful Dead concert.
Kyle passed along the following note regarding “Tumbling,” which mentions more SCI and solo songs are on the horizon:
Hey everyone, I’m loving our new SCI Lab, lots of creativity percolating from here. SCI will be bringing more tunes soon, but in the meantime I wanted to release some new KHB tunes that originated from the lab. I snuck in and produced a few new sounds for summer.
“Tumbling” started out as a groove that was in need of becoming a song. It was one of those feels that I had done in the past, but with a more indie vibe to it. Lyrically it speaks of my first love and first loss all around a trip to the see The Grateful Dead in Pittsburgh. Sometimes I struggle to form a cohesive theme and groove, but this came together fairly easily and quickly. I like where this ended up, I hope you enjoy!
