Ken Babbs & Sue Kesey Aboard For Grateful Dead ‘Shakedown Stream’ Pre-Show

The Grateful Dead‘s Shakedown Stream archival video series returns this Thursday with a broadcast of the band’s Sunshine Daydream concert film. Up first is a pre-show featuring special guests Ken Babbs of the Merry Pranksters and natural food pioneer Sue Kesey starting at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on YouTube this Thursday, August 27.

Sunshine Daydream captures the Grateful Dead’s legendary August 27, 1972 benefit concert for the Springfield Creamery at the Old Renaissance Faire Grounds in Veneta, Oregon. The show took place 48 years to the date of this Thursday. Shakedown Stream used to air on Fridays, but now will be broadcast on an irregular schedule.

Ken Babbs and Ken Kesey served as the emcees of the Dead’s Springfield Creamery benefit concert. Ken’s brother, Chuck Kesey co-founded Springfield Creamery with his wife, Sue Kesey. Both Ken and Sue will share memories of the famed event with Shakedown Stream pre-show co-hosts David Lemieux and Gary Lambert. Use this form to submit questions.
