Grateful Dead ‘Shakedown Stream’ Weekly Finale Features Previously Unreleased 1990 Show & Bob Weir Aboard For Pre-Show
The Grateful Dead will bring a weekly run of Shakedown Stream archival video broadcasts to a close this Friday by airing previously unreleased video of the band’s July 21, 1990 concert at the World Music Theater in Tinley Park, Illinois. Up first will be a pre-show featuring special guest Bob Weir starting this Friday, August 7 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
Weir will chat with Shakedown Stream pre-show co-hosts David Lemieux and Gary Lambert on Friday. Use this form to submit questions for Bobby, David and Gary.
Though Shakedown Stream won’t air each week moving forward, the broadcasts will continue periodically. Next up will be an airing of the GD concert film Sunshine Daydream on August 27, which comes 48 years to the day of the show featured in the movie — the band’s August 27, 1972 performance in Veneta, Oregon.
This week’s Shakedown Stream comes as part of a celebration of the Days Between, the span between Jerry Garcia’s birthday on August 1 and the day he died on August 9. Weir and his Grateful Dead band mates began a three-night run in Tinley Park on July 21, 1990. The performances brought their summer tour to a close and would be the last concerts featuring keyboardist Brent Mydland, who tragically died on July 26, 1990.
