Jesse Welles set up shop at The Arch in New York City’s historic Washington Square Park for a pop-up concert on Tuesday afternoon. Welles brought out fellow singer-songwriter Margo Price during the set for a joint performance of John Prine's “Angel From Montgomery.”
The set was announced by Welles on social media just hours before the intimate solo performance. “I’m literally sitting in Washington Square Park right now,” Price responded in a comment on Welles’ Instagram.
Jesse Welles is preparing to release his next album, Masks Off, on June 12. The prolific artist performed several songs from the LP in Washington Square Park, along with other songs from his discography.
Margo Price has collaborated with Jesse Welles several times over the past year. Most notably, Price tapped Welles to contribute to “Don’t Wake Me Up,” a song featured on her 2025 studio album Hard Headed Woman.
Welles strummed guitar and blew harp on the performance of the song Prine wrote and recorded for his self-titled 1971 album. Price banged on tambourine while helping to sing “Angel From Montgomery.”
