Jeff & Spencer Tweedy Perform Wilco’s ‘Company In My Back’ On ‘The Tweedy Show’

Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy teamed up with sons Spencer Tweedy and Sammy Tweedy for Thursday’s installment of The Tweedy Show. Jeff and Spencer played a duo version of the Wilco classic “Company In My Back” within the hour-long broadcast last night.

Jeff’s wife, Susan Tweedy, filmed the episode which also featured guest appearances from Casey and Basil (the dog). The Wilco frontman offered a solo rendition of “Born Alone” off the band’s 2011 album, The Whole Love, as the first performance of last night’s Tweedy Show. Next, Jeff played the traditional “Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down” before Spencer hopped on drums to accompany his dad on the A Ghost Is Born gem “Company In My Back.”

“I don’t want people to think when Spencer was a little boy I forced him to learn all my songs,” Jeff quipped after revealing Spencer had never performed “Company In My Back” previously. Jeff then noted the members of Wilco had a Zoom call earlier in the day. The episode continued with a cover of Little Feat’s “Willin'” featuring Spencer on guitar and Casey on lead vocals. Sammy then had his turn in the spotlight by singing the Flaming Lips’ “Do You Realize??” accompanied by his dad on guitar. Jeff brought last night’s installment to a close by performing “Magnetized” and “Reincarnation.”
