Jeff Coffin & Jack Pearson Among Tedeschi Trucks Band Guests In Nashville
By Scott Bernstein Mar 5, 2016 • 8:47 am PST

On Friday night, the Tedeschi Trucks Band continued a string of three sold-out performances at the famed Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The TTB were joined by a handful of special guests on Friday just as they were on the first night of the run.
Towards the middle of the show the band welcomed vocalist Mike Mattison’s Scrapomatic partner Paul Olsen on guitar and vocals as well as vocalist Kristina Train for “The Party’s Over.” Last night’s “The Party’s Over” was one of a handful of performances of the Scrapomatic cover the TTB has played. A memorable moment came later in “The Storm,” when guitarist Derek Trucks broke a string necessitating a bass and drums jam while he changed the string before finishing the song. Derek tended to his guitar off stage during the “Angel From Montgomery” that followed.
The TTB welcomed Dave Matthews Band saxophonist Jeff Coffin for the penultimate song of the main set, “Let Me Get By.” Coffin took a turn in the spotlight for a sax solo towards the end of the title track from the Tedeschi Trucks Band’s recently released studio album. Former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Jack Pearson made his second consecutive appearance of the run, when he joined the TTB for Derek & The Dominos’ “Anyday” as the evening’s lone encore. Both Jack and Derek worked hints of the Allman Brothers Band’s “Blue Sky” within their “Anyday” guitar duet.
