Watch Jason Isbell & Sadler Vaden Preview ‘Weathervanes’ With Stripped-Down Acoustic Session For North Texas Radio Station

Jason Isbell and 400 Unit guiatrist Sadler Vaden recently delivered an acoustic session for independent North Texas radio station KXT 91.7. Isbell and Vaden stopped by KXT studios in Dallas on May 9 ahead of a Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit concert at The Factory in Deep Ellum to perform songs from their forthcoming album Weathervanes.

Weathervanes arrives this Friday, June 9. Jason and Sadler kicked off their KXT session with the album’s stellar lead single, “Death Wish.” After some humorous banter about being stuck in traffic listening to “sad songs,” Isbell gave some great insight into why people connect with his songs.

Next, the guitarists offered Weathervanes’ second single, “Middle Of The Moring.” Jason then had some more hilarious observations in-store on the “garbage fire” that is Twitter and also how “you shouldn’t be the King of England if you literally can’t whoop anybody’s ass.” Isbell also had thoughts on which outlaw country icon should be the King of England.

Jason and Sadler wrapped the session with “Cast Iron Skillet.” Isbell also chatted about his own weathervane, the HBO documentary Running With Our Eyes Closed and working with Robert De Niro on the upcoming Martic Scorsese film, Killers of the Flower Moon.
