Jack White had a special surprise in store for fans on Saturday (March 15) at his first of two No Name Tour shows at Tokyo’s Toyosu PIT. White brought out Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder during his encore to help sing Neil Young's “Rockin’ in the Free World.”

Young’s 1989 single has long been a staple of Pearl Jam concerts. Jack White first performed the cover at one of his own shows last month at Massey Hall in Toronto. White then tore through “Rockin’ In The Free World” a week later at the SNL50 concert.

Both Jack White and Eddie Vedder are huge baseball fans. Vedder’s beloved Chicago Cubs are facing off against the Los Angeles Dodgers to open the 2025 Major League Baseball season at the Tokyo Dome on Tuesday and Wednesday, which may be why Eddie made the trip across the Pacific and Jack ended his Asian tour in Japan.

The iconic rockers shared lead vocal duties for “Rockin’ In The World” on Saturday, the second song of White’s encore. Eddie Vedder altered a lyric within the Neil Young cover to sing “There’s only one Jack White.” The Third Man Records label head and his band went on to finish the show sans guests with a run of “Archbishop Harold Holmes,” “Hypnotize,” “Underground” and “Seven Nation Army.”

White follows the second show in Tokyo today by kicking off the next North American leg of his No Name Tour on April 3 in Chesterfield, Missouri. Pearl Jam launches their 2025 tour on April 24 in Hollywood, Florida.
