The Grateful Dead vault opened once again in November for the 2024 30 Days Of Dead live audio series. GD archivist David Lemieux picked a track for each day of the month and now all 30 can be streamed via Dead.net or downloaded as high-quality MP3 files through this ZIP file.

This year’s series was one of the biggest yet when it comes to length, as there are nearly 11 hours of music to enjoy. By comparison, the 2023 installment ran nine hours and the two prior series were each closer to eight hours.

David Lemieux chose tracks spanning 1969 through 1995. The “One More Saturday Night” from the Dead’s March 18, 1995 concert at The Spectrum is a rare archival release documenting the final year of the band’s career. Once again, many selections include multiple songs such as “Space”.”Truckin'”/”Black Peter” from Alpine Valley 1985, a “China Cat Sunflower”/”I Know You Rider”/”Estimated Prophet”/”Eyes Of The World” from Pembroke Pines 1980 and a wild “Jam”/”The Other One”/”Wharf Rat”/”Sugar Magnolia” from Chicago’s Uptown Theatre 1978.

Phil Lesh was seemingly on Lemieux’s mind as he put together the tracklist. The bassist, who died on October 25 at age 84, shines throughout including on a frenetic “Scarlet Begonias”/”Fire On The Mountain” from Cal Expo 1984, memorable “Shakedown Street”/”Estimated Prophet”/”Eyes Of The World” from Providence 1986 and trippy “Dark Star” from Piedmont Park 1969. Lesh’s signature track, “Box Of Rain,” makes multiple appearances with versions from 1973 and 1987. The series ends with “He’s Gone” (along with “Truckin’,” “Drums,” “The Other One” and “Stella Blue” from Austin 1972.
