Grace Potter performed covers of songs by Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd and Simon & Garfunkel as part of her Twilight Hour livestream this past Monday, June 1. Potter opened the latest Twilight Hour with Dylan’s “Blowin’ In The Wind” and closed out the hour-long session with “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Simon & Garfunkel. The set also included originals and a take on Pink Floyd’s “On The Turning Away.”

The singer-songwriter shared a note on Facebook before the livestream explaining her decision to proceed with this week’s Twilight Hour:

I woke up this morning to a couple messages suggesting that perhaps I hold off on doing tonight’s broadcast given the deeply unsettling situation in this country and around the world. That’s fair. This is an incredibly sensitive time & it might be better to go dark so as not to come off as tone deaf or worse…But here’s the thing: I love playing music and I truly I believe it has the potential to heal, transform, and elevate us to a higher place. With this in mind, I will lovingly take these dark days in stride and play on. I invite you all to join me for some songs of healing & compassion. I think we could all use it. I know I could. Grace began the set with a solo acoustic version of “Blowin’ In The Wind,” a protest song Bob Dylan released in 1963. Potter was then joined by her husband, Eric Valentine on drums and bassist Alex Proctor for her own “Ain’t No Time.” Next, the singer-songwriter went solo and played “Apologies” on electric piano. Grace moved over to acoustic piano for the original “Colors.” She then announced, “Tonight’s show is devoted to compassion, healing, peace and good old music.”

The back end of Monday’s Twilight Time started with “Empty Heart” from her 2015 studio album, Midnight and “Low Road” from Grace Potter & The Nocturnals’ self-titled 2010 LP. Grace concluded the set with “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” the title track of Simon & Garfunkel’s fifth and final album. Watch the whole set below:
