Saturday marked Day Two of Gov’t Mule‘s 7th Island Exodus destination event in the Caribbean. Following a guest-filled pair of sets on Friday at The Jewel Paradise Cove Resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica; Warren Haynes & Co. offered more on the same last night.

The core band began the festivities with “World Boss” on Saturday night and threw teases of David Bowie’s “Fame” into “Lay Your Burden Down” and “Hottentot” into “About To Rage.” Following “Mr. Man” guitarist John Scofield emerged for “Blind Man In The Dark.” Both Scofield and saxophonist Ron Holloway contributed to the set closing sequence of Frank Zappa’s “Trouble Every Day,” Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing” and the original “Sco-Mule.”

Scofield came out with Mule to kick off the second set with “Tell Me Something Good” and “Jeep On 35.” Holloway then emerged to augment Sco-Mule on covers of Billy Cobham’s “Stratus” and The Allman Brothers Band classic “Dreams.” Next up was “Good Morning Little Schoolgirl” featuring Scofield, Jackie Greene and Rocky Lindsley. Gov’t Mule concluded the second set with a guest-less run through “Thorazine Shuffle” > “Funny Little Tragedy” > “Thorazine Shuffle.” Holloway, Greene and The Second-Half Singers helped Gov’t Mule on the evening’s “The Letter” > “Feeling Alright” encore.

Island Exodus 7 continues on Sunday in Jamaica.
