Watch Goose Debut The Band Cover In Las Vegas

Goose continued their fall tour at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas in Las Vegas on Sunday night. The Connecticut-based quintet offered a debut cover of The Band’s “The Shape I’m In” during their first set in Sin City.
Last night’s show got underway with “Lead Up,” an original premiered by Goose back in March at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York. Goose then took a lengthy “Drive” into “Dr. Darkness” before debuting The Band cover.
Percussionist Jeff Arevalo handled lead vocals on “The Shape I’m In.” Written by Robbie Robertson, The Band originally released the song on their 1970 studio album, Stage Fright. “The Shape I’m In” joins “Christmas Must Be Tonight,” “Look Out Cleveland,” “The W.S. Walcott Medicine Show” and “Up On Cripple Creek” as The Band songs Goose has covered. Additionally, the five-piece has performed The Band’s version of Motown classic “Don’t Do It” 30 times since 2016.

Goose followed the cover debut by taking a trip down to “Rockdale.” The rollicking “Lead The Way” and funky “Jeff Enborg” brought Sunday’s first set to a close. The second set was loaded with big jams including exploratory versions of “Elizabeth” and “Madhuvan” to bookend the frame. A minor-key version of “Indian River,” adventurous “Into The Myst” and the original “fast” arrangement of “All I Need” came within.
The band honored Las Vegas’ legacy by encoring with the Elvis Presley-popularized “Trouble.” Goose last played the song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller back on November 19, 2021 — a span of 156 shows.
