This past weekend marked the return of moe.‘s moe.down festival. As reported, the jam scene stalwarts shared the stage with many performers from the other acts who played at the event which was held at Snow Ridge Ski Resort in Turin, New York. Crispy audience recordings of all seven moe. sets recently surfaced and can be streamed below along with a gallery of Paul Citone’s photos from July 1.
There are plenty of highlights included within. From the first night, there’s a 20-minute “Timmy Tucker,” the moe. debut of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” featuring Ryan Montbleau, Hayley Jane and Kirk Juhas, a lengthy “Liz Reed,” a Kung Fu-infused “San Ber’dino” and an acoustic encore.
Saturday featured three sets including an afternoon performance that incorporated a kids tent parade during “We Are Famoe.ly.” The second set started with covers of Pink Floyd’s “In The Flesh” and “Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)” and also saw Fishbone emerge for a take on “Freddie’s Dead,” while the subsequent “Opium” saw Blackberry Smoke’s Charlie Starr sitting-in. For the third set on Saturday, moe. brought out Floodwood’s Jason Barady and Nick Piccininni for “Waiting For The Punchline” with Mike Dillon Band’s Otto Schrang joining on “Recreational Chemistry.” Also, be sure to check out the inventive “Silver Sun” > “The Other One” > “Silver Sun” sequence.
moe. kept the collaborations coming for their final two sets on Sunday. Twiddle band mates Mihali Savoulidis and Ryan Dempsey lent a hand on the first set-closing “Mexico.” moe. opened their final set of the weekend with “McBain,” and then worked out “Skrunk” > “Yodelittle” before concluding “McBain” with Mike Dillon sitting-in and featuring a “Crosseyed & Painless” jam. While an intense rain storm accompanied the “Brent Black” that closed moe.’s final set, the music didn’t suffer. moe. had one more big trick up their sleeves as part of the final encore as they delivered just their third cover performance of “America, Fuck Yeah” from the film Team America: World Police.
