Full Show Video: Ween Bust Out CSNY Cover In Maine

Last night Ween brought their summer tour to the easternmost state in the contiguous United States, for a show at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine. The five-piece band continued to dig into their bag of tricks by offering up a handful of rarities and dusting off a classic rock cover.

Ween opened up the night with “Marble Tulip Juicy Tree,” playing the track from GodWeenSatan: The Oneness for the first time since September of last year. Three songs later band offered up just their seventh take ever of “Monique the Freak,” which was followed a few songs later by another rarity “Cold And Wet,” which was dusted off earlier in the week for the first time since 2001. Last night’s version marked just the eighth attempt at the tune from their 1990 debut.

From there the New Hope, Pennsylvania rockers mixed in tour staples like “Your Party,” “Poopship Destroyer,” “Ocean Man” and “I’ll Be Your Johnny On The Spot.” The biggest surprise of the night came toward the end of Ween’s main set when they busted out a cover of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s “Ohio.” It marked the first time the politically-charged anthem, that was written in response to the Kent State shootings, had been played since New Year’s Eve of 2011. The band closed out the night with a trio of fan-favorites in their encore with “Roses Are Free,” “Buckingham Green” and “The Mollusk.”

Ween return to the stage tonight for a show at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion in Boston.
