Full Show Audio: Joe Russo’s Almost Dead Jams On The Duo In Boston

On December 2 Joe Russo’s Almost Dead held a concert at Boston’s House Of Blues. That night the Grateful Dead tribute act worked several songs by the Benevento Russo Duo during improvisational sequences in the second set and the band has made a soundboard recording of the entire show available to stream.

JRAD began the first set with guitarist Scott Metzger taking them through “The Music Never Stopped,” followed by fellow guitarist Tom Hamilton taking charge for “China Cat Sunflower” > “Touch Of Grey.” The rest of the set continued with “Black Throated Wind,” “Jack Straw” and take on “Ruben & Cherise” loaded with a number of teases. A rendition of “I Know You Rider” filled the set closer spot.

Set two opened with “Althea” followed by drummer Joe Russo and keyboardist Marco Benevento delivering a “Duo Jam” while segueing into “Good Lovin.” Additional The Duo material kept coming during the set, including a “Terrapin Station” infused with a “My Pet Goat” jam and their “9×9” being incorporated within “Uncle John’s Band.” The second set was brought to an end with a pairing of “He’s Gone” > “Saint Of Circumstance.” The Band’s “Ophelia” started the encore and was trailed by “Not Fade Away” > “Brown Eyed Women” > “Not Fade Away.”
