Nearly 10 months after the tour was announced, Foo Fighters finally launched their 2026 Take Cover North American stadium run on Tuesday night in Toronto. The band delivered a career-spanning, 26-song performance at Rogers Stadium for their first concert in Toronto since 2018.
Frontman Dave Grohl and his bandmates — bassist Nate Mendel, guitarists Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear, keyboardist Rami Jaffee and drummer Ilan Rubin — took the stage following support sets from Mannequin Pussy and Queens of the Stone Age. Josh Homme and QOTSA played for an hour and pulled tracks from five different albums to form their setlist.
Foo Fighters opened with “All My Life” and included such hits as “Times Like These,” “My Hero,” “Learn To Fly” and “This Is A Call” into the first half of the show. The sextet moved to the smaller B-Stage for a four-song interlude. Up first was an acoustic “Wheels” before the group treated fans to the recently revived “Marigold,” a song dating back to Grohl’s early days in Nirvana. After the ensuing “Big Me,” the band played “Under You” in celebration of Shane Hawkins’ birthday. Shane Hawkins is the son of late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.
The second A-Stage section of the night began with a pairing of “La Dee Da” and “Run.” Foo Fighters followed by rolling through a medley of songs from one of each members’ former bands. Dave Grohl hopped behind the kit for a partial performance of Ilan Rubin’s “Tap Dancing In A Minefield.” Rubin was back on drums and unleashed a powerful solo during the subsequent “Monkey Wrench.”
An emotional moment came a few songs later when Grohl dedicated “Aurora” to the memory of Taylor Hawkins. Foo Fighters then played “Caught In The Echo,” the only song from the band’s 2026 album, Your Favorite Toy, to make the setlist in Toronto. A “Best Of You” punctuated the main set before the group closed out the night with an encore of “The Teacher” and “Everlong.”
