Watch Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold & My Morning Jacket Cover Neil Young

My Morning Jacket wrapped a two-night run at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California on Saturday. The band brought out Robin Pecknold from co-headliners Fleet Foxes for a Neil Young classic.

The Neil cover with Pecknold came as the 10th song in MMJ’s 15-song co-headlining set at the Greek when the collab offered Young’s “Comes A Time.” The tune is the title track to Neil’s 1978 album.

The performance with Pecknold marked MMJ’s debut of “Comes A Time,” as per SetlistFM stats. The choice cover saw Robin and My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James beginning the song on acoustic guitars and vocal harmonies before the band came in behind them. The Young tune also saw guitarist Carl Broemel deliver a shimmering run on pedal steel.

My Morning Jacket opened their set with “Dancefloors” off their 2003 album, It Still Moves, followed by “Touch Me I’m Going to Scream Pt. 1,” “Spring (Among The Living)” and “Never In The Real World,” the latter off the band’s latest studio album, 2021’s My Morning Jacket. MMJ’s set also included favorites like “Golden,” “Dondante” “Touch Me I’m Going to Scream Pt. 2” and set closer “Wordless Chorus.”

My Morning jacket is headed to Red Rocks this weekend while Fleet Foxes continue on the West Coast where they’ll team back up with MMJ for a concert on August 28 at the storied Hollywood Bowl. Check out both bands’ itineraries below:
