Newport Folk organizers wasted little time before springing into action once Tedeschi Trucks Band pulled out of this weekend's festival. Father John Misty will now perform at the legendary festival on Sunday, July 26, taking over the slot previously held by TTB.

The 67th annual Newport Folk Festival will take place at the idyllic Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island this Friday, July 24 through Sunday, July 26. Brandi Carlile, Hayley Williams, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Nathaniel Rateliff and The Lumineers top the event’s stacked 2026 lineup.

Father John Misty made his solo Newport Folk debut in 2013. The singer-songwriter returned three years later and made his most recent appearance at the festival in 2018.

Tedeschi Trucks Band was forced to cancel their appearance at both Newport Folk and FloydFest due to Susan Tedeschi's appendix surgery. “I had an appendix scare, and I’ve been told I need surgery to have it removed,” Tedeschi wrote Monday on social media. “It’s a very common procedure, of course, and I’ll be okay, but sadly it does mean we have to cancel our appearances at Newport Folk and FloydFest.”

The “incredibly disappointed” Tedeschi promised “I’ll be back on my feet before you know it.”

All 2026 Newport Folk tickets are sold out. Those looking to attend can join the waitlist for the festival’s fan-to-fan ticket exchange.
