Dogs In A Pile finished a big year for the band with a New Year’s Eve concert at Putnam Place in Saratoga Springs, New York. Five new original songs were debuted over the course of the three-set show, which also included the band’s first time covering The Beatles’ “I’ve Got A Feeling.”

The first new DIAP song to enter the fold on NYE came three songs into the first set in the form of “Unfocused,” which featured guitarist Brian Murray on lead vocals and guitarist Jimmy Law backing him. The expansive newcomer co-written by Murray and Tom Marshall spanned 13 minutes while making its first setlist.

The next new song was the penultimate selection of the first set as “King Henry” was played for the first time. Bassist Sam Lucid handled lead vocals on the tender song premiere.

Another song made its debut near the end of Wednesday’s second set as DIAP showcased “116 Days” for its first appearance. Anchored around Lucid’s chunky bass line and drummer Joey Babick’s marching beat, “116 Days” saw Law singing lead on the slinky new tune.

The third set started with “Can’t Wait for Tonight” leading into the countdown to midnight and “Auld Lang Syne.” A little while into 2025 came the fourth new original song of the night, “Moon Of Colorado.” Another bass/drums combo propelled the bright composition sung by Murray that clocked in at just over nine minutes in length and teed up a 20-minute “Tillie” excursion.

The final original debut came a few songs after with “Dangers of Rah Rah” coming out near the end of set three. Law was in charge of leading “Dangers Of Rah Rah” both on vocals and with a blistering guitar solo.

The DIAP debut of The Beatles’ “I’ve Got A Feeling” – apt with its “New Year’s Day” lyrical reference – was performed at the start of the encore. The night drew to a close with the ending portion of “Bugle on the Shelf.”
