Watch Charlie Puth Go ‘Sideways’ With Coco Jones On ‘Kimmel’
The new dad also sat for an interview and took part in the “Wing It & Sing It” challenge.

Charlie Puth returned to Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday, the night before the release of his new album Whatever's Clever! The incredibly gifted musician was joined by Coco Jones for a performance of the LP’s “Sideways,” chatted with host Jimmy Kimmel and showed off his songwriting skills during an installment of the show’s recurring “Wing It & Sing In” segment.
Puth appeared on Kimmel 13 days after the birth of his new baby boy Jude. For “Wing It & Sing It,” Jimmy tasked Charlie with writing a song based on lyrics displayed to him on cue cards and singing it on the fly. The brand new dad came though with flying colors despite the program’s writing team trying to trip him up with funny lyrics.
Charlie Puth spoke about his experience watching Jude’s birth during his interview. Puth revealed he played “Hey Jude” in the delivery room as Jude entered the world with the doctors and nurses singing the “Na Na Nas.” He also shared that his son already loves the piano and poops whenever Charlie plays the keys.
Puth explained he’ll miss his son when he embarks on the Whatever's Clever! 2026 World Tour next month. Additionally, Charlie spoke about the first concert he ever attended, writing and recording a song for Whatever’s Clever! with Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins and the one artist he’d most like to collaborate with.
The singer-songwriter tapped Coco Jones to sing on Whatever’s Clever! track “Sideways.” Jones reprised her role on “Sideways” on Jimmy Kimmel Live teaming with Charlie Puth, his band and a string section to perform the breezy song.
