The Disco Biscuits launched their 30th Anniversary Tour on Wednesday night with a performance at Atlanta’s Terminal West. The celebratory tour and concert began with the band pulling out “World Is Spinning” for the first time since 2021.
Bisco packed both sets with a typically healthy doses of improvisation. “World Is Spinning” made its live debut in 2003. According to Biscuits Internet Project 2.0 setlist database, Wednesday’s performance was the band’s first in 247 shows. The song’s first appearance since September 17, 2021, was its 55th performance to date.
After the opener, a four-song first set unfolded through an unbroken sequence of “Crickets” into “Dino Baby” into the set-closing “I-Man.”
While the first set consisted of four songs, set two was made up of only three tDB originals. An unfinished “Little Betty Boop” opened the second set and incorporated elements of the Grateful Dead’s “West L.A. Fadeaway.” The uninterrupted playing continued with a transition into “Under Ur Spell.” The foursome landed on “42” for the final song of the set.
Night one of TDB30 Tour was punctuated with a two-song encore, started by “Vassillios,” which had not been played as an encore since 2009. The previously initiated “Crickets” was completed to draw the show to an end.
The Disco Biscuits 30th Anniversary Tour continues tonight in Charlotte, North Carolina. Livestream options are available via nugs.net.
