Dave Matthews Band Announces 1st South African Shows Since 2013
The frontman heads back to his home country to lead the septet in Pretoria and Cape Town.

Dave Matthews will return to his home country of South Africa this December and he’s bringing Dave Matthews Band with him. The group’s first South African shows in over a decade will take place at SunBet Arena in Pretoria on December 10 and Grand Arena in Cape Town on December 12.
Tickets for both shows go on sale to the general public this Friday, June 9 at 9 a.m. local time. Purchase tickets for Dave Matthews Band in South Africa via Ticketmaster.co.za. Up first is a presale for members of the DMB Warehouse Fan Association starting on Wednesday, June 7 at 7 a.m. local time.

Matthews was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on January 9, 1967. After frequent moves across the globe a child, including his family’s return to Johannesburg in 1977, Dave landed in New York City in 1986 and on to Charlottesville, Virginia later that year. The young guitarist singer-songwriter became a fixture of Charlottesville’s music scene and put together a band with other local musicians that rose to fame in the mid-1990s.
The group’s last trip to South Africa came in 2013. DMB played two nights at Cape Town’s GrandWest Casino & Entertainment World on November 30, 2013 and December 1, 2013 before ending the brief jaunt at Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg on December 3, 2013.
Dave Matthews Band recently released Walk Around The Moon, their long-awaited 10th studio album. The septet is currently on road for their North American Summer Tour 2023. On Friday, DMB will make their Forest Hills Stadium debut in New York City.
