Dave Matthews Band began a 10-city arena tour on Tuesday night at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio. The septet dusted off a handful of songs they haven’t played in years as part of last night’s tour opener.

Matthews & Co. kicked off the evening with “You Never Know” off 2002’s Busted Stuff. Last night was the first time DMB opened with “You Never Know.” Staples “Satellite,” “Don’t Drink The Water” and “Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)” followed before the night’s second surprise. DMB busted out the unreleased rarity “Kill The King” for the first time since June 26, 2011 and only second time since 2006. Next came “Say Goodbye,” which hadn’t been performed by the full band since September 4, 2016.

Dave Matthews Band kept the bust outs coming soon thereafter with the return of “Where Are You Going.” The seven-piece then worked their first cover of Aerosmith’s “Sweet Emotion” since July 10, 2011 into “Minarets.” Another rarity followed as “Sleep To Dream Her” from 2001’s Everyday was liberated after 413 shows. The rest of the set mixed classics such as “Grey Street” and “Jimi Thing” with material from 2018’s Come Tomorrow including “Here On Out” and “She.” For the encore, DMB dusted off the unreleased gem “Break Free” for the first time since August 27, 2016 and said farewell with the familiar “Pantala Naga Pampa” > “Rapunzel” pairing.
