Daniel Marc has released his new single “Wild Eye,” available on Bandcamp and all streaming platforms July 1. The song is the first release since the rollicking acid-pop textures of “Diamonds” (feat. Scott Guberman), and features another all-star band including Jennifer Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band), Justin Guip (Hot Tuna), Josh Weinstein (Kat Wright), and Will Bryant (Amy Helm).
“Wild Eye” builds on Marc’s penchant for bringing jam band and live music community musicians together to collaborate on his genre-shifting compositions.
“Sometimes we’ll end up with a dreamy pop vibe, or an acoustic ballad,” Marc said. “Sometimes it’s a summertime rock anthem like ‘Wild Eye,’ but it’s the players that ultimately bring the final attitude to the song. It’s also a chance for a completely unique recording of these lineups, and I have been fascinated with the results.”
As the pandemic spread and all live music shut down for a year, the songwriter and guitarist began writing an album in his home in the Hudson Valley, New York.
“It was a way of dealing emotionally with the weight, and state of our world at that moment,” Marc said. “Some songs were funny, some were straight-up strange, and even angry. I wanted to capture all of those ideas as they came to me. Some of those tracks didn’t match the same vibe of the album release, so they’ve become singles in their own right. I’m proud of this little road song, and it will remain a joy of my life to have worked on it with all of these incredibly talented people.”
