Watch Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country Cover Neil Young With Widespread Panic’s Duane Trucks & JoJo Hermann

Daniel Donato recruited an impressive roster of guest musicians for his Cosmic Country Christmas Jam at Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl last Saturday night. Among the musicians who joined Donato and his band were Widespread Panic keyboardist JoJo Hermann and drummer Duane Trucks.

The members of Widespread Panic were the final guests to emerge following appearances by Anders Beck of Greensky Bluegrass, Sierra Hull, , Grace Bowers, Drew Smithers, Mountain Grass Unit, Willow Osborne, Marty Schwartz and Taylor Hicks.

Donato shared the stage with Hermann and Trucks earlier this year when he sat in with Widespread Panic during a show in Charleston, South Carolina. The pair of Panic bandmates returned the favor on Saturday and kicked off their sit-in with a cover of Neil Young’s “Are You Ready For The Country?”

Trucks and Hermann then assisted on the WSP staple, J.J. Cale’s “Ride Me High.” Hermann’s exit preceded the set-closing rendition of Donato’s expansive “Dance In The Desert,” from the guitarist’s excellent 2023 studio album, Reflector.
