Cyndi Lauper had a big surprise in store on Tuesday for fans attending the London stop of her farewell tour. Lauper welcomed fellow ’80s icon Boy George at the end of the show to duet on “Girls Just Want To Have Fun.”

Boy George and Cyndi Lauper have a long friendship and musical relationship, which has included a string of shows together. Lauper credited the Culture Club frontman with inspiring her to “have the courage to look how I look” during the joint performance at London’s O2 Arena. “I could listen to you all fucking night talking, let alone singing,” Boy George responded.

“Girls Just Want To Have Fun” brought the 15-song performance in London to a close. The debut single from Lauper’s first solo album, She’s So Unusual launched her to fame in 1983. Cyndi Lauper is among the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame nominees.

The pop stars traded vocals and banter during the extended finale backed by Lauper’s seven-piece band. Cyndi thanked fans for coming and discussed several organizations to which she will donate some of the proceeds from Tuesday’s show. The European leg of the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour continues through February 28. Lauper then brings the run to Australia and Japan in April.
