Guitarist Cory Wong brought his fall tour to Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre on Friday night. Wong’s Vulfpeck and The Fearless Flyers bandmate bassist Joe Dart sat-in on “Dean Town” towards the end of a concert that also featured guest appearances by Jacob Jeffries and Tema Siegel of the opening band Couch.

Cory Wong, his talented band and Snarky Puppy guitarist Mark Lettieri delivered a 14-song performance in Brooklyn that included Wong originals, material from his other projects and more. Lettieri, who’s aboard for the whole tour, shined early on during a performance of his song “Tidal Tail.”

Tema Siegel took the stage with Wong & Co. towards the middle of Cory’s main set. Siegel sang the Cory Wong original “Look At Me” in a reprise of a collaboration first presented the previous evening in Washington D.C. The Couch vocalist then led the ensemble through a cover of Paramore’s “Ain’t It Fun” as she has at each stop on the tour.

Siegel’s guest spot was followed by a performance of The Fearless Flyers composition “Patrouille de France.” Jacob Jefferies then took the stage with Cory Wong and his band to belt out “How Much Do You Love Me.” Jeffries appears on the original, which was released on the 2022 Vulfmon album, Here We Go Jack.

Cory Wong closed out the set with originals “Merci,” the geographically appropriate “Brooklyn Bop” and “The Grid Generation.” The stage was then reset for a post-set press conference. Wong and his bandmates responded to questions posed by concertgoers.

The guitarist turned his response to the final question into an introduction of Joe Dart. “There is a Vulfpeck tune that was recorded with a small ensemble and we started playing it with the big band,” Wong explained. “It was a tune that was kind of difficult and an interesting one to arrange with the horn section because there’s an iconic thing that needed to happen and it felt like the horns shouldn’t do anything that got in the way of it but should add to it.

“I would like to play ‘Dean Town,'” Wong added. “And if it’s not too much of a burden I would like to invite Joe Dart to come on stage.” Dart took over bass duties from Yohannes Tona for the Vulfpeck classic. Dart played the song’s signature bassline as the audience sang along. Cory Wong was all smiles while watching his longtime collaborator at work. Tona was back on bass for the “Assassin” finale.
