Peter Buck Joins Chris & Rich Robinson On R.E.M. & Velvet Underground Covers In Portland

Chris Robinson and Rich Robinson were joined by R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck last night at Portland’s Doug Fir Lounge. The collaboration took place during the encore and featured the trio covering R.E.M. and The Velvet Underground songs.
The Robinsons are currently out on their Brothers Of A Feather acoustic duo tour leading up to this summer’s The Black Crowes reunion tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of the band’s debut album, Shake Your Money Maker. Wednesday’s setlist at the Doug Fir pulled from that album as well as others in The Crowes’ catalog.

Buck emerged at the end of the show to add acoustic guitar to R.E.M.’s “7 Chinese Brothers.” The sit-in concluded with a cover of The Velvet Underground’s “Femme Fatale.” Watch audience-shot footage posted by skipst1 of Buck and the brothers Robinson covering R.E.M.’s “7 Chinese Brothers” below:
