Brandon ‘Taz’ Niederauer & Others Sit-In With Butch Trucks & The Freight Train Band In NYC
By Andy Kahn Aug 2, 2016 • 8:47 am PDT

Last night the Butch Trucks and The Freight Train Band rolled into New York City for a show at B.B. King’s Blues Club. The band anchored by The Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks was joined by up-and-coming guitarist Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, as well as veteran blues guitarist Junior Mack and vocalist (and Trucks’ granddaughter) Astrid Trucks.
The current star of the hit Broadway musical School Of Rock, Taz was brought up to sit-in on “Compared To What?” and a lengthy performance of the ABB classic “In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed.” Later on, Mack – who performs in Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band – came on to play guitar on “Statesboro Blues.” The drumming grandfather also welcomed Astrid Trucks (the daughter of Butch’s son Vaylor Trucks) to sing lead vocals on The Band’s “Ophelia.”
