Watch Brandi Carlile & John Legend Duet On ‘God Only Knows’ At Beach Boys Tribute Concert

Brandi Carlile and John Legend dueted on The Beach Boys’ “God Only Knows.” The collab came during the Grammy Salute To The Beach Boys Concert held at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theater on Wednesday.

“God Only Knows” appears on The Beach Boys’ 1966 album, Pet Sounds, one of the greatest albums of all time. Also influential, Paul McCartney has said Pet Sounds partially inspired The Beatles’ own magnum opus, 1967’s Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. Macca has also famously called “God Only Knows” the greatest song ever written.

Carlile also performed The Beach Boys’ “In My Room” at last night’s tribute concert. Legend offered a take on “Sail On, Sailor” as well. For their collaboration, Carlile and Legend delivered “God Only Knows” in a duet style, swapping verses and coming together on The Beach Boys’ signature vocal parts over the chorus.
