Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros continued their five-show run at The Guild Theatre in Menlo Park, California on Wednesday. Night three once again featured JD Souther sitting in with the trio, along with additional special guests, Molly Tuttle, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott and Old Crow Medicine Show’s Ketch Secor.

Guitarist Bob Weir, bassist Don Was and drummer Jay Lane began the show with Grateful Dead staples “Hell In A Bucket” and “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo.” Guitarist Molly Tuttle, who will soon join Weir's Grateful Dead/Dead & Company bandmate Bill Kreutzmann for a performance in New Orleans, and OCMS fiddler Ketch Secor were then brought out for their first appearances of the evening, augmenting the Dead’s “West L.A. Fadeaway” and the traditional “Peggy-O.”

Veteran folk guitarist Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, a frequent Weir collaborator, then emerged to join Tuttle, Secor and the band on Bob Dylan’s “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight.” The cover was a premiere for Wolf Bros and had last been performed by Weir in 2007. The guests exited ahead of the “Lost Sailor” into “Saint Of Circumstance” pairing that closed the first.

Keeping with the trend established on the first two nights of the Guild Theatre run, Weir and guitarist J.D. Souther started the second set as an acoustic duo. An improvised song initiated on Monday, “You Again,” was further fleshed out to start the set. Weir summoned Lane and Was to join in on the workshopping of the new song, as the guitarist called out chord changes. Lane’s “Ancient Astronauts” briefly appeared after the drummer asked the audience if they wanted to hear his song. Tuttle came back out for a take on the Eagles’ “Heartache Tonight,” which was also performed by Weir and Souther at the prior two Guild Theatre shows.

Weir, Lane and Was were guest-less for the subsequent “Althea” and “He’s Gone.” The pair of Dead tunes were trailed by covers of Dylan’s “All Along The Watchtower” and The Beatles’ “Dear Prudence.” Souther reemerged for the last two songs of the second set, sitting in on the Wolf Bros’ debut offering of Chuck Berry’s “Nadine” as well as the Dead’s “One More Saturday Night.”

Wednesday’s encore began with Tuttle and Secor accompanying the band on “Ripple.” The pair remained as Elliott and Souther returned for the final song of the night, the Eagles’ “Best of My Love,” which was another Wolf Bros debut.
