Grammy-winning guitarist and singer-songwriter Molly Tuttle is aboard for Billy & The Kids’ upcoming Fleur De Dead concert in New Orleans. The Grateful Dead offshoot led by drummer Bill Kreutzmann is set to perform at NOLA’s Saenger Theatre on April 27 just before the 2023 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival gets underway.
Along with Molly, The Billy & The Kids NOLA lineup is Kreutzmann, bassist Reed Mathis, guitarist Tom Hamilton, keyboardist Aron Magner and saxophonist James Casey. Kreutzmann took to social media to announce Fleur De Dead special guest Molly Tuttle. Read his post below:
There was room for one more in the car, so we’re bringing Molly Tuttle with us to The Saenger Theatre in New Orleans on April 27 for the night of Fleur De Dead with Billy & The Kids!
Molly was raised in my hometown of Palo Alto, a stone’s throw from where I first became a fan of another banjo player — Jerry Garcia. It wasn’t long before Jerry switched to guitar and we formed a band that would become the Grateful Dead.
Now, Molly was just two years old when the Grateful Dead stopped touring in 1995, but to hear her play “Standing on the Moon,” you’d think Garcia and Hunter wrote the tune with her in mind. Molly’s recent win at the Grammy Awards has put her in certain company but she’ll be joining my Kids on the eve of this year’s Jazz Fest for a very special night of music, dancing, community, and celebration.
See you there,
Bill the Drummer
