Bob Weir & Wolf Bros Perform ‘My Brother Esau’ At TRI Studios: Pro-Shot Video

shared official video featuring “My Brother Esau” from their Chinese New Year livestream concert at TRI Studios. The performance of the song on February 12 marked the first time Bob Weir played “My Brother Esau” since June 14, 2014.
The Grateful Dead/Dead & Company guitarist was joined by an expanded Wolf Bros lineup for the two-set performance. Weir was backed by bassist Don Was, drummer Jay Lane, pedal steel guitarist Greg Leisz and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti for the bulk of the night. Additionally, the five-piece Wolf Pack horn and bass ensemble augmented the quintet at various points of the livestream concert.

“My Brother Esau” closed out Bob Weir & Wolf Bros’ first set on February 12. The biblical tale was penned by Bob Weir and John Barlow. “My Brother Esau” was premiered by the Grateful Dead on March 25, 1983 at Compton Terrace in Tempe, Arizona but disappeared from the band’s repertoire after a final performance on October 3, 1987.
