Little Feat Makes Grand Ole Opry Debut With Maggie Rose

Little Feat made its Grand Ole Opry debut on Tuesday during the famed country music program’s broadcast from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. The band performed three classics and brought out Maggie Rose for the first two songs.

Rose emerged for the opening “Willin’,” sharing vocals on the Lowell George-penned road song from Little Feat’s self-titled 1971 debut album. She remained onstage as the band moved on to “Dixie Chicken,” the title track from Little Feat’s 1973 album.

Little Feat went it alone to close the approximately 15-minute performance with “Let It Roll,” the title track from the band’s 1988 comeback album. The group then spoke about the milestone appearance during a brief interview that aired as part of WSM Radio’s broadcast.

“We’re grateful to the Opry for having us. Grateful for everybody who came in tonight to hear us and yeah, it was special,” keyboardist Bill Payne said. “Having Maggie Rose up there. It doesn’t get much better than that.”

Little Feat’s Opry debut came two days before the band launches the next leg of The Last Farewell Tour at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Thursday. Rose is also aboard for the Ryman concert. Payne revealed the band will also be joined by “a few other people.”

The Last Farewell Tour continues through the fall before Little Feat returns to Japan for the first time since 2012 in January 2027.
