Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros performed on Friday at the Park City Song Summit in Park City, Utah. Their set featured several familiar faces making guest appearances as Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, JD Souther and Brittney Spencer joined them onstage at Canyons Village Amphitheater.

Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros were accompanied by The Wolfpack strings and horns section. Ramblin’ Jack, a frequent guest of Weir’s in recent years, was the first to emerge on Friday. The 92-year-old folk veteran played acoustic guitar and helped sing a performance of Bob Dylan’s “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight.”

Spencer followed Ramblin’ Jack’s guest spot and reprised her role joining Weir in singing “Looks Like Rain.” Spencer was tapped to perform the song as part of the April 2022 concerts at Radio City Music Hall that were held in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Weir’s solo album Ace.

“Tonight was my favorite version of us singing ‘Looks Like Rain,’” Spencer wrote. “Love you Bobby.”

Souther then came on as Spencer exited. Souther, who made a number of guest appearances with Weir in April that involved impromptu songwriting, participated in a performance of “Heartache Tonight.” The song was a #1 hit for the Eagles in 1979 and was written by Souther, Eagles members Don Henley and Glenn Frey, and Bob Seger.

Prior to the guest spots, Weir & Co. kicked off their set with “Cassidy” segueing into the location appropriate “Salt Lake City.” The set continued with Grateful Dead classic “Friend Of The Devil” and another Bob Dylan tune, “Queen Jane Approximately.” Weir’s multipart “Weather Report Suite” into “Let It Grow” led into the guests joining the band.

After the trio of sit-ins, Weir the Wolf Bros and the Wolfpack dug into Dead favorites “Greatest Story Ever Told,” “New Speedway Boogie,” “The Other One” and “Wharf Rat.” The set ended with a journey to “Terrapin Station.” A final take on “Ripple” filled the encore slot and capped the collaborative performance.
