The Black Crowes brought out surprise guests guitarist Ronnie Wood and keyboardist Chuck Leavell for separate appearances on Friday night at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Wood emerged early in the night before Leavell came out for a pair of tunes a few songs later.
The Rolling Stones guitarist and touring keyboardist are currently preparing to hit the road for the iconic rock band’s 2024 North American Tour. The Black Crowes’ show in L.A. was the seventh stop of their Happiness Bastards Tour.

Ronnie Wood took the Greek Theatre stage to huge applause after the fifth song of the concert. Wood teamed with The Black Crowes on “Stay With Me,” from Ronnie’s time in Faces. The Crowes hadn’t performed the Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood co-written song since 1990 as per Setlist.FM statistics.
Faces released “Stay With Me” on their third studio album, 1971’s A Nod Is As Good As a Wink… to a Blind Horse. The song peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart making it the biggest U.S. hit of the band’s career.

The Black Crowes led by brothers vocalist Chris Robinson and guitarist Rich Robinson offered the tour debut of Amorica standout “Cursed Diamond” following Wood’s guest spot. Next up were “Dirty Old Sun” and “Wanting And Waiting,” two of the six tracks off the band’s recently released Happiness Bastards album played in Los Angeles.
Chris Robinson brought out Chuck Leavell after “Wanting And Waiting.” Leavell’s keys are featured on The Black Crowes’ 1990 debut album, Shake Your Money Maker. The famed keyboardist, who was a member of The Allman Brothers Band from 1972 through 1976, added to a pair of Shake Your Money Maker cuts. First up was The Crowes’ cover of the Otis Redding classic “Hard To Handle.” Chuck Leavell stuck around to contribute to the ballad “She Talks To Angels.”
