The Black Crowes Welcome Kevn Kinney & Debut AC/DC Cover Near Atlanta

The Black Crowes returned home to the Atlanta area on Saturday for a show at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Georgia. The band led by siblings Chris and Rich Robinson brought out local legend Kevn Kinney during their main set and unveiled an AC/DC cover for the encore.

Kinney fronts the Atlanta-birthed rock band Drivin N Cryin. Both Drivin N Cryin and The Black Crowes rose up from the Atlanta scene to national prominence. Chris Robinson shouted out several of the ATL clubs the bands played when he introduced Kevn late in the Crowes’ 16-song concert.

Kevn Kinney and Chris Robinson shared lead vocal duties on The Black Crowes’ debut cover of Drivin N Cryin’s “Acceleration.” The tune was the first song Kinney wrote and recorded. Drivin N Cryin wound up releasing “Acceleration” on their Songs About Cars, Space And The Ramones EP. The Black Crowes contributed their take to the 2025 tribute album Let’s Go Dancing: The Reimagined Songs Of Kevn Kinney/Drivin N Cryin.

The Black Crowes had another surprise for hometown fans upon their return for the encore, when the band tore through AC/DC’s “Riff Raff” for the first time. Chris Robinson channeled Bon Scott and Rich Robinson showed off his finest Angus Young riffage on the song from the legendary Australian rock band’s 1978 studio album Powerage.
