The Black Crowes launched their Southern Hospitality Tour with Whiskey Myers on Sunday night at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. The Crowes were joined by a pair of special guests with John Doe of X sharing the stage during the main set and guitarist Charlie Sexton emerging for the encore.

The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson and his brother, guitarist Rich Robinson, opened the tour with “Profane Prophecy” from their 2026 studio album, A Pound Of Feathers.

“Sting Me” off their 1992 sophomore album, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, was selected next. The setlist went on to include additional tracks from that release, “My Morning Song,” “Sometimes Salvation” and “Thorn In My Pride.”

Opening night also featured standouts from The Black Crowes’ 1990 debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, working in “Jealous Again,” “She Talks to Angels,” “Thick n’ Thin,” “Twice as Hard” and Otis Redding’s “Hard To Handle.” The Amorica cuts “Cursed Diamond” and “Wiser Time” were also played in Austin.

John Doe came out near the end of the set to help sing “The New World,” which he recorded for the 1983 X album, More Fun in the New World.

Local Austin native Charlie Sexton was summoned to add guitar for the evening’s encore, which was “Feelin’ Alright?” by Traffic. The classic song was written by Dave Mason, who died recently at age 79.

The Southern Hospitality Tour continues Tuesday, May 19 in Rogers, Arkansas. Scroll through clips of The Black Crowes on opening night that follow.
