Billy Strings continued to roll out new material this weekend during the final two shows of his three-night stand at The Amp in St. Augustine, Florida. Strings led his band through the premiere of “Wilted Flowers” on Friday and followed with the first-ever “Love Among The Tombstones” performance on Saturday.
The guitarist and bandmates banjo player Billy Failing, bassist Royal Masat, fiddler Alex Hargreaves and mandolinist Jarrod Walker returned to St. Augustine to kick off their spring tour. Opening night on Thursday featured the debuts of “Night Fishing” and “Something To Look Forward To.” The latter was written by Strings with acclaimed bluegrass musician Ronnie Bowman, who died back on March 22, 2026.
“Wilted Flowers” was debuted to end the second set on Friday. The upbeat number was kept concise with a two-and-a-half minute runtime. Strings went heavy on material from his last two albums for night two, including six songs from 2024’s Highway Prayers and five off 2021’s Renewal. The Michigan-bred guitarist and his ensemble capped the night with a four-song, all-cover encore of “How Mountain Girls Can Love,” “Dark Hollow,” “Someday You’ll Call My Name” and “Y’All Come.”
The tender “Love Among The Tombstone” was premiered as the penultimate song of the second set on Saturday. Other highlights from night three of the 2026 St. Augustine run were an adventurous sequence connecting “Psycho,” “Pyramid Country” and “Must Be Seven” in the opening stanza, along with an “End Of The Rainbow” that gave way to “Dawg’s Rag” in the closing frame.
Billy Strings’ tour-opening three night stand can be viewed via on-demand nugs livestream replays. Livestreams of Strings’ remaining spring concerts are also available for nugs subscribers.
