Earlier this year, Air and Phoenix’s Thomas Mars came together to perform their collaborative song “Playground Love” live in concert for the first time in 20 years. The French musicians shared the stage together to perform the song again last night at The Beacon Theatre in New York City.
Air (Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel) originally tapped Thomas Mars (Gordon Tracks) to record “Playground Love” for its inclusion on the soundtrack to Sofia Coppola’s 1999 directorial debut, The Virgin Suicides, which Air produced. Prior to their performance in Paris in July, Mars last performed “Playground Love” with Air on multiple occasions in 2004.
