Earlier this year we told you about 12-year-old piano prodigy Owen York who wowed Umphrey’s McGee fans with an impromptu performance in NYC and later with an impressive medley of UM songs he shared. Now Owen has again personally arranged an original medley of one of his favorite musical artists, Grammy-winning performer Beck.
Watch a 30-song Beck medley, arranged very much like an overture to a Broadway show, that clocks in at just over ten minutes and spans more than two decades of Beck’s material including such songs as “Loser,” “Pay No Mind,” “Where It’s At” and “Chemtrails”:
Not long ago Owen covered Peter’s Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” on the 30th anniversary of the hit song’s debut. Check it out:
Late last year, York was accepted to Rockland Youth Jazz Ensemble, an elite group consisting mainly of high school students from New York and New Jersey. Owen is the ensemble’s pianist and youngest member. Keep your eyes on York’s YouTube page for future videos.
