Tour Dates | Dave Matthews Band Switching It Up This Summer

You can always count on the Dave Matthews Band to hit the road hard each summer and 2014 won’t be an exception. The group has just announced a massive tour that spans May 16 to September 6 and includes a “Caravan” three-day event at the scenic Gorge Amphitheatre over Labor Day Weekend.

This summer there will be a few twists to DMB performances as the band has revealed they will play two sets each night as opposed to the one long set that had become standard for them. In addition, the group “will wind through numerous configurations -from electric to acoustic, from full-throttle numbers featuring the entire band to more intimate moments featuring small groups of band members -including a stripped-down pairing of Matthews with guitarist Tim Reynolds, performing as an acoustic duo, as they occasionally do when the band is off the road,” according to a statement.

“I was talking to Carter about how much I still like just sitting around playing music together. It’s how we started -in the basements of Carter’s and my mom’s houses,” said vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews in a statement announcing the tour. “Our shows are loose, but we started thinking that maybe this summer we should make them looser and bring some of that feeling to the stage. It seems like the opposite of a safe plan, so why not?”

“Everyone was really psyched about the idea, so we’ve been busy figuring out how to turn it into the best possible experience for our fans,” added drummer Carter Beauford.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, February 7 following Warehouse and Citi’s Private Pass pre-sales.
