Yeah Yeah Yeahs hit The Chicago Theatre on Tuesday to begin a two-night stand in Chicago on their Hidden In Pieces Tour. The band pulled out a cover of Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” in honor of Ozzy Osbourne to cap the concert.
The Osbourne family shared news of the legendary rocker’s passing yesterday. The music world has been offering tributes to The Prince Of Darkness on their respective summer tour stops. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs selected the Black Sabbath classic, “Paranoid,” to honor Ozzy.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs wrapped their concert at The Chicago Theatre with the title track to Sabbath’s groundbreaking 1970 album. As much a proto-punk song as a proto-metal song, “Paranoid” was definitely in the Yeah Yeah Yeahs wheelhouse. Check out a clip below including frontwoman Karen O’s dedication:
Yeah Yeah Yeahs kicked off the concert with “Blacktop” from their 2022 album, Cool It Down, which was the band’s first studio effort in a decade. The song included a “In Heaven (Lady in the Radiator Song)” intro. The band also played Cool It Down’s “Spitting off the Edge of the World.”
Additional favorites performed included “Gold Lion,” “Maps” and “Y Control,” the latter wrapping up Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ main set. The encore got underway with “Zero” off the rockers’ 2009 LP, It’s Blitz, ahead of the Ozzy tribute to seal the show.
