Willie Nelson shared another preview of his upcoming tribute album, I Don’t Know A Thing About Love: The Songs Of Harlan Howard. The latest single is the 89-year-old outlaw country legend’s take on Harlan Howard’s “Streets Of Baltimore”
Nelson’s pending release, which adds to the current Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame nominee’s catalog of over 150 album credits, joins previous album tributes to acclaimed songwriters such as Kris Kristofferson, George Gershwin, Ray Price and Cindy Walker.
Nelson’s latest honoree, Harlan Howard — a Country Music Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall Of Fame inductee who died in 2002 at age 74 — wrote hit songs for a variety of country and R&B artists such as Ray Charles (“Busted”), Buck Owens (“I’ve Got A Tiger By The Tail”), Conway Twitty (“I Don’t Know A Thing About Love”) and others including Bobby Bare who popularized “Streets Of Baltimore.”

According to press materials:
Howard wrote “Streets Of Baltimore” with Tompall Glaser and the song was first released by Bobby Bare in 1966 and subsequently covered by Gram Parsons, Charley Pride, John Prine, Uncle Tupelo and so many more.
The Howard tribute album was recorded by Nelson with his longtime collaborator Buddy Cannon and a “murderers’ row of crack Nashville musicians.” Listen to Willie Nelson’s take on “Streets Of Baltimore” below:
