Wilco‘s iconic 2002 album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is getting the deluxe reissue treatment in celebration of the LP’s 20th anniversary. Seven different editions are due out via Nonesuch Records on September 16, including a Super Deluxe version featuring 82 previously unreleased tracks.
Other Yankee Hotel Foxtrot reissues include the original record remastered on black or gold vinyl, an expanded digital download and a deluxe vinyl/CD package containing live tracks and demos in addition to the remastered original LP. Today’s announcement comes as Wilco continues a celebration of YHF’s 20th anniversary with special concerts in New York City and Chicago. Additionally, the band performed the album’s “Poor Places” on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert last night with the Aizuri Quartet strings.
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was officially released on April 23, 2002 as the band’s Nonesuch debut after the band parted ways with Reprise the previous year. The album was made available for streaming on September 18, 2001 via Wilco’s website.
The Super Deluxe version brings together the remastered original album with a collection of demos, outtakes and instruments from the YHF recording sessions and live audio of the band’s July 23, 2002 concert at The Pageant in St. Louis. The set also contains performances and interviews from Wilco’s appearance on the September 18, 2001 installment of WXRT’s Sound Opinions program hosted by Greg Kot and Jim DeRogatis. All come house in a box set that includes a new book featuring previously unseen photos, an essay by journalist/author Bob Mehr and interviews with Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy and drummer Glenn Kotche as well as YHF mixer Jim O’Rourke.
