Wilco Solid Sound Documentary Coming To Vimeo

On June 26 -28 Wilco will headline and curate this year’s Solid Sound Festival, an event held every two years at Mass MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts. The last installment of Solid Sound in 2013 was filmed for a new documentary entitled Every Other Summer that can be viewed via Vimeo On Demand starting June 18.

The film was directed by Christoph Green and Brendan Canty and features performances by Wilco, Neko Case, Yo La Tengo, The Dream Syndicate, Lucius, Foxygen, Sam Amidon, Sean Rowe, The Relatives and appearances from Reggie Watts, John Hodgman, Jen Kirkman and others. Every Other Summer offers a peek into the festival’s utopian vibe, and the positive transformative impact it has had on the small rust belt town of North Adams. Watch a trailer for the documentary:

Wilco will be joined by Real Estate, Mac DeMarco, Richard Thompson Trio, NRBQ, Cibo Matto and many others at Solid Sound later this month.

Every Other Summer is one of a number of music-related features premiering on Vimeo this month. Others include Soaked In Bleach about the events surrounding Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain’s 1994 death and Can’t Stand Losing You based on The Police guitarist Andy Summers’ memoir.

Soaked in Bleach (June 11 | Now in Pre-order): Soaked In Bleach reveals the events surrounding Kurt Cobain’s death as seen through the eyes of Tom Grant, the private investigator hired by Courtney Love in 1994 to track down her missing husband (Cobain) only days before his body was found at their Seattle home. Narrated by Grant (played by Lost’s Daniel Roebuck), the film develops as a narrative mystery with cinematic recreations, interviews with key experts and witnesses, and the examination of official artifacts from the 1994 case.

Can’t Stand Losing You: Surviving The Police (June 12 |Now in Pre-order): Can’t Stand Losing You: Surviving the Police is based on the acclaimed memoir One Train Later by rock guitarist Andy Summers, and follows Summers’ journey from his early days in the psychedelic ’60s music scene, when he played with The Animals, to chance encounters with drummer Stewart Copeland and bassist Sting, which led to the formation of a punk trio, The Police. During the band’s phenomenal rise and its dissolution at the height of their popularity in the mid-80s, Summers captured history with his candid photographs. Utilizing rare archival footage and insights from the guitarist’s side of the stage, Can’t Stand Losing You: Surviving the Police brings together past and present as the band members reunite, more than two decades later, for a global reunion tour in 2007.
