Wilco Releases Surprise New Album ‘Star Wars’

Wilco has just released a previously unannounced new album, entitled Star Wars. The surprise follow-up to 2011’s The Whole Love features 11 original tracks and is available for free download until August 13.
Star Wars is Wilco’s ninth studio album and comes on the heels of last year’s compilation Alpha Mike Foxtrot: Rare Tracks 1994 -2014. The surprise album will be released on CD August 21 and vinyl on November 27. Head to Wilco’s website to download Star Wars.
“Why release an album this way and why make it free? wrote frontman Jeff Tweedy. “Well, the biggest reason, and I’m not sure we even need any others, is that it felt like it would be fun. What’s more fun than a surprise?”
